Roosevelt Field Jacket
Description
Pyke's original Tongass Lightweight Upland Pant earned its following — 224 reviews, 4.8 stars, a Gray's Sporting Journal commendation — by solving the fundamental tension in upland hunting clothing: protection without weight, mobility without sacrifice. The Tongass Extreme carries that foundation forward and adds what serious hunters told us was missing after long days in the field. More ventilation. More storage. Smarter construction in the details that matter when the cover closes in around you.
The hybrid fabric architecture is unchanged and proven: featuring a waterproof breathable nylon facing on the lower legs sheds the wet grass, alder branches, and creek crossings that define a serious day in grouse and woodcock cover. Four-way stretch throughout means the pant moves with you on every fence crossing, steep pitch, and hurried mount — not against you. At 12 ounces, it remains one of the lightest functional upland pants available from any maker at any price.
What's new is what distinguishes Extreme from its predecessor in the field. Hip vents — positioned high on the thigh where ventilation matters most during hard walking — are concealed behind interior baffles that block debris, twigs, insects, and brush from working their way inside. The vent zippers themselves are hidden beneath fabric plackets so they won't snag in heavy cover or catch on a fence wire at an inconvenient moment. A new thigh pocket offers genuine storage capacity — large enough for a Garmin handheld, a compact rangefinder, or the items a hunting vest doesn't always reach — secured with the same hidden zipper design. These are not afterthought features. They are the kind of refinements that emerge from actual field use rather than a design room, and they show.
The Tongass Extreme pairs naturally with the Kiowa Shooting Shirt for warm early-season days and the Tongass Waterproof Jacket when the weather turns serious. For hunters who require heavier briar protection in the thorniest late-season cover, the Dakota Upland Briar Pant remains Pyke's most protective option. The Tongass Extreme lives between those two — lighter than the Dakota, more capable than the original Tongass — built for the hunter who covers serious ground and expects their clothing to keep up without complaint.

All new for 2026
The waxed canvas field coat earned its place in sporting tradition honestly. The Roosevelt Field Jacket earns its place by improving on it. Stretch waterproof breathable shell. Fully taped seams. Waterproof zippers. Storm flap, storm cuffs, and two deep shell pockets positioned where a serious hunter needs them. Traditional corduroy collar, brass hardware, tartan plaid lining — every detail of the classic field coat, rebuilt in materials that breathe, pack down light, and never need re-waxing. The jacket the old ones would have chosen, if they'd had the option.

Traditional Style | Modern Function
The waxed cotton field coat has long been a staple of upland hunters around the world. We reimagined what this jacket could look like for today's hunters. The Roosevelt Field Jacket is designed to handle the toughest conditions, while remaining light and completely waterproof. Stretch component fabrics ensure ease of movement and breathability keeps you cooler than any traditional coat.
