If the Dakota is Pyke's late-season workhorse, the Tongass Lightweight Upland Pant is what you reach for from opening day through mid-November — when you're covering ground fast, the temps haven't bottomed out yet, and you need a pant that moves with you without cooking you alive. At just 12 ounces, it's one of the lightest functional upland hunting pants available, and Gray's Sporting Journal named it one of the best for good reason.

The Tongass is built around a hybrid two-material construction that solves a real problem. The upper pant uses a double-weave 37.5 yarn blend — a moisture-managing, highly breathable fabric with DWR treatment that handles dewy grass, light rain, and heavy sweating without soaking through. The lower leg panels switch to a Toray Entrant 3-layer waterproof breathable nylon facing — the same category of technology used in serious rain gear — so your lower legs stay dry when you're pushing through wet cover, creek crossings, or a South Dakota slough on a foggy October morning. Both materials stretch four ways, so the pant moves with your stride, not against it.

For 2025, Pyke updated the Tongass with a relaxed fit through the thighs, a higher rise for all-day comfort, and new color options. Articulated knees, a gusseted crotch, rear zippered pockets, suspender loops, and an elastic comfort waistband round out a pant designed for hunters who are on their feet from first light to last flush.
